Centenary Year celebrations in Guwahati, Assam.

Shirdi Sai Spiritual and Charitable Trust, Guwahati organised a two day programme on 1st and 2nd May of 2018, as part of the ongoing Centenary celebrations of Mahasamadhi of Shirdi Sai Baba. Dr Chandra Bhanu Satpathy Chairperson of Shirdi Sai Global foundation presided over various functions as the Chief Guest.

 

The main event during this visit was the cultural evening organised at ITA Machkhowa, on 1st May. Shri H.S Das Managing Trustee welcomed Dr Satpathy and the guests. He also informed about the various charitable initiatives that have been started by the Guwahati trust. The Chief Secretary of Assam, Mrs T Y Das and other senior officers from state and central government were present along with the Head Doloi of Kamakhya peeth and Satradhikar of Jaakoi Satra as prominent guests. Sai devotees and Trustees of various Trusts from all across the country attended the function. During the function two books viz, the Assamese translation of the 3rd Volume of Shri Guru Bhagwat and the book titled “The Shirdi Diary “ were released by Dr Satpathy.

 

An Assamese play on the life and the teachings of Shri Shirdi Sai Baba was also enacted during the cultural function. The play was directed by well known film personality of Assam, Shri Basanta Barua and scripted by famous script writer Shri Jiten Sharma. The audience highly appreciated the play.

 

Speaking on this occasion, Dr Satpathy ji mentioned about the rich culture of Assam and the manner in which its culture has been preserved. He urged upon all to cut down the ritualism and to undertake more and more philanthropic works to alleviate the miseries of poor and destitute who have been neglected.

 

On 2nd May, Dr Satpathy inaugurated a OPD clinic  at Six mile Guwahati which would provide free treatment and medicines to the needy and destitute. Guwahati trust has undertaken this initiative in collaboration with another voluntary organisation “Satirtha”.

 

Dr Satpathy also visited the Shirdi Sai Baba temple and lighted the sacred Dhuni there. On this occasion Sai devotees were gathered in a large number. The melodic sacred hymns from Assamese version of Shri Guru Bhagwat (originally written in Odia by Dr Satpathy) were rendered in the temple premises.
